Tonometry Lecture and Hand on Workshop

The first hour of this course will outline the calibration, use, advantages and disadvantages of the various types of tonometers available, and discuss the importance of tonometry including a basic overview of glaucoma and what role tonometry plays in the evaluation process. The AAO video on Applanation Tonometry will be shown as part of this presentation.  The second hour will provide practical experience performing Goldmann Applanation tonometry. The process of checking calibration with the rod will be demonstrated.
    
    Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
1. Define the classifications of Glaucoma.
2. Describe Tonometry as it relates to the glaucoma evaluation.
3. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of each instrument.
4. Explain how to use each instrument.
5. Check calibration of the Goldmann Applanation tonometer.
6. Perform applanation tonometry using the Goldmann applanation 
    tonometer.
