SUbJective REFRACTION
The first three (3) hours includes a description of refraction techniques in plus or minus cylinder (depending on group needs), dials and cylinders, fogging techniques, cross cylinder techniques, refining sphere, duochrome test, and measuring for reading power. The AAO video on Subjective Refraction will be shown as part of this presentation.
The final four (4) hours will allow the participants an opportunity to perform Subjective Refraction in plus or minus cylinder (depending on group needs) with the guidance of an instructor.
Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
1. Describe Refraction.
2. Explain dials and cylinders and their use in refraction in plus or
minus cylinder.
3. Explain and perform fogging technique, cross cylinder technique,
refining sphere, the duochrome test, and measuring for reading power.
