Lensometry Lecture and Hands on Workshop

This course is an introduction to the Lensometer. Single vision, Bifocal, and Progressive lenses will be discussed in addition to Sphere, Sphero-cylindrical compound lenses. A video recording of actual neutralization techniques on the Lensometer will be part of the presentation. Each participant will have hands-on opportunity to perform Lensometry in plus or minus cylinder on a single vision, bifocal, and progressive lens with the assistance of the instructor.

     Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
1.   List the parts of a manual Lensometer.
2.   Describe lens forms: Sphere, Compound, Bifocal and Progressive.
3.   Outline the elements of Lensometry.
4.   Perform manual Lensometry in plus or minus cylinder.
