 A-Scan Biometry Lecture and Hands on Workshop

This course will consist of a short overview of basic ocular anatomy as it relates to axial length measurements, basic principles of ultrasound, and methods used to measure axial length. The AAO video by Ms. Sandra Frazier Brynes will be shown as part of this presentation. The second half provides time for the participant to perform an A-scan with the guidance of the instructor.


   Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
1. Describe the basic principles of ultrasound.
2. Explain the basic method used to perform contact axial eye length 
    measurements.
3. Describe the basic examination techniques used for A-Scan biometry.
